Change of plans...

So yesterday I moved some stuff around and now the sister's share a room together. Katelyn's old room is now going to be the school/computer & office/craft room...

My little helpers:)

A preview of the color...which is yummy! It's a good thing I didn't finish the nursery, now I don't feel so bad repainting LOL! (See I had this planned all along)

This color makes the room a little dark, but I'm going to use a lot of whites and pinks...

One point for me!!!

So I'm feelin' the happy dance because I finished a project!! Which is a big deal because I have procrastination in my DNA! (Although reading other gal's blog's have kicked me into gear LOL!)

I found this beauty at a yard sale about a month ago for free! Best part...it worked! Worst part...I think someone poured a soda on it...it was gross!

My $4.00 lampshade from Goodwill...(No, I'm not wrapping it-the Christmas paper is for the pattern to cover the shade)

The After! (If I could put in a sound effect, I totally would LOL!!!)

Crazy Days

Each year participating stores in our little town has a big clearance sale known as "Crazy Days." This year I found a $70.00 pullover for $9.00.

It looks much cuter on me than the chair, but you get the idea:)

Thrift store finds...

I had some really good thrift store finds the past couple of days and as always added more projects to my already overflowing plate!!!

The lampshade will be given a face lift and will go on my star lamp. I'm going to use the wine bottle holder in my guest bathroom for washcloths.

I'm going to use these old hymn books for decoupage...

I'm planning on making a shaggy swag, so I picked up some rickrack for it:)

I think this is a hanging lantern. It would look good with a candle on a back porch...

Picture Frames

I got this idea off The Farm Chicks' blog, we had a lot of fun with them...

"Where is Makaila?" you ask, she was having so much fun in the water, we couldn't pull her out for a couple of pictures!

What a weekend!

We had a GREAT weekend! Of course I didn't take very many photos (something I need to work on!), but here are some good ones:)

Just what I need...more fabric!

Yesterday I took the girls to the quilt store here in town...I had one thing on my mind..."buy this before it's all gone!"

I have had my eye on the above fabric for about 6 months now! I'm planning on doing valances for my kitchen and my very first quilt! This piece will be a wide outside border.

The blue fabric will be a skinny inside border. The red fabric will be my binding.

Here is a picture of some of the "pre-cut" squares that I got for my quilt. I'm planning on "maybe" starting this after Labor Day...I will keep you posted!

Today's breakfast...

This is a recipe I got out of my "Best of the Best from Alaska Cookbook!

Early Morning Quiche

1 unbaked pastry shell
12 stripes of bacon, crumbled
1/2 c grated cheese
1/3 c chopped onion
4 eggs, beaten
2 c whipping cream ( I used half and half)
dash of cayenne pepper, black pepper, and basil

Line pastry shell with double thickness of foil. Bake at 450 degrees for 5 min. Remove foil and bake another 5 min. Remove from oven. Reduce heat to 425. Sprinkle bacon, cheese, and onion over crust. Beat eggs, cream, and seasonings. Pour into crust. Bake for 15 min. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and bake for 30 min. or until knife inserted into center comes out clean. Serves 6-8. Enjoy!

How does your garden grow?

Our garden is doing awesome! Last night we had our first broccoli from the garden, it was sooooo good! We also planted two new trees last weekend:) The one in the front yard is a Toka Fruiting Plum tree and the one in the back yard is a Mesabi Pie Cherry tree.

Wood!

Next month we are putting in a wood stove in our living room! So to prepare for the winter, we are "getting wood." We take both of the trucks and have made two trips so far. The girls have lots of fun...Makaila always makes a "pretend" campfire and then they "hunt" for animals.
