I finally found it!!!

Hey...look what I found at a thrift store a few days ago!

All together both pieces were a whopping $17 !!!!!! I can hardly stand it...I have been looking for a good chair that I can reupholster for years...LOL

The chair is in really good condition, except for the fabric, which I'm changing anyway. The ottoman's legs are a little loose but that will be an easy fix.

Here is what I am thinking fabric-wise...

I've ordered a yard to see what it looks like in person...if I like it I can use it for the ottoman!

Stay tuned...;-)

Farm Fresh

Yesterday I got to work on a project that I have been wanting to do for awhile ;-) I LOVE big signs, especially big wooden ones that are free to make!!!

So I went outside to my junk/stash pile and grabbed 3 leftover cedar boards from a fencing project...

I sanded them down a bit to remove splinters, dirt, and rabbit hair (the junk pile is right next to the rabbit cage)...

I then screwed the boards together using 3 small wooden stakes...

(The backside)

(The front side)

Next, I went to work on my letters. I free-handed them and used chalk to make them stand out against the cedar. After that I paint in the letters with white paint and after it was all dry, I took my sander to it once more.

The finished sign! It measures 6' x 17''. I can't wait to show you where I put it...not bad for zero dollars :-)

The BIG reveal...

Remember the before?

Well here it is now...with 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of Antique White satin paint, a little sanding here and there, and finally a generous coat of antiquing glaze.

All of the hardware is spray painted with Oil Rubbed Bronze...I love this color by the way!!!

I'm very happy with how everything turned out!!! I think my grandma would be proud ;-)

I'm Back!

WOW! Where has summer gone? Where have I been? Well, I've been right here...I just needed to take a break from blogging for awhile. As for summer, we only had like two weeks of real summer weather...the rest...I'm not sure what happened?

So, I'm back and ready to start sharing what has been going on in my little world. Even though we had a weird summer, I'm so ready for FALL! Actually, I have been ready for weeks, BUT for the sake of my family and friends I have held back the decorations...up until this last Monday! YAY! My favorite time of year ;-) When I finish the transformation later this week, I will let you in on some sneak peaks. As for now, here is some inspiration...

Friend Making Monday!

Amber over at aefilkins - for all the 'OMG' moments in life! is doing a Friend Making Monday and I wanted to join in ;o)

1. Favorite thing about Spring? I love to see all the new life coming out...the baby animals, green plants and flowers poking up through the ground, new buds on all the trees, and people everywhere going outside to enjoy the nice weather.

2. What am I doing for Spring break? I'm sending our girls to grandma's house and my hubby and I are going fishing and camping...can't wait!

3. Favorite Spring flower? Would definitely have to be tulips ;o)

4. Do you have a garden? Yes I do! AND I started working in it yesterday. I love to see the progress of cleaning up old plants, weeds, leaves and's such a breath of fresh air!

(Last years garden)

5. If so, what do you grow? Lots of vegetables...but mostly stuff that produces a lot, so I can put it up for the winter. We have plans for green beans, peas, cauliflower, corn, beets, potatoes, peppers, onions, lettuce, squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

6. Do you do Spring cleaning? I'm in that mode right now!

7. What is your weather 'really like' right now? Well...since I live in Montana, we can have 70s one day and the next 5 in. of snow...LOL! But today it is clear skies, sunny, WINDY, and 41 degrees.

8. Whats your favorite thing to do on a sunny afternoon? Work in the yard and/or garden ;o)

9. Favorite TV show right now? We don't have cable but we have Netflix.
